Description:

We are seeking expressions of interest for a fixed-term one year post in
English language. Only applicants with a reasonable commute to Brighton, UK
are encouraged to apply and those who can start immediately, as this is a
temporary cover, with teaching starting at the end of Sept. 2017. We seek a
lecturer in English language with particular expertise in sociolinguistics and
discourse studies. The post holder's teaching and research would embrace
interdisciplinary approaches to language analysis, focusing primarily on
political discourse analysis, in relation to class, race, conflict,
nationalism and populism. The post holder will posses a completed PhD in
either English language or Linguistics and will have teaching experience at
least to undergraduate level. We also welcome those with experience in
teaching larger cohorts, ability to engage with interdisciplinary teaching,
perhaps with experience in other areas of sociolinguistics, such as media
discourse, or stylistics, or similar. Applicants with experience in
supervising undergraduate dissertations are also particularly welcome. 

We seek an academic who can start in approximately 6 weeks' time and has
enough experience to pick up existing provision and curriculum.
