Description:

The University of Innsbruck invites applications for the position of
University Professor of Translation Studies with a focus on Interpreting at
the Department of Translation Studies of the Faculty of Humanities 2 (Language
and Literature).

The position will be based on a permanent civil-law employment contract with
the University.

Responsibilities: 
- Representing the subject of “Translation Studies” both in research and
teaching. 
- A main research focus in the area of interpreting studies, a further
research focus in translation theory.
- Collaboration with the other research and teaching areas in the department
and across the university is expected. For the latter, the research centres
“Cultures in Contact”, “Dimensions of Transfer” and “Digital Humanities” and
the university-wide Research Area “Cultural Encounters – Cultural Conflicts”
are particularly relevant.
- Teaching involves courses as foreseen in the BA and MA curriculums,
supervision of MA dissertations and examination in the entire domain of
Translation Studies.
- Participation in the academic self-administration is expected.

Eligibility requirements: 
- a pertinent degree in higher education;
- a pertinent habilitation of equivalent qualification;
- relevant publications;
- competence in interpreting studies and translation theory;
- excellent command of German and full professional competence in at least one
other language that is taught at the department (English, French, Italian,
Spanish, Russian);
- involvement in international research; 
- excellent didactic skills;
- experience in the procurement of research funding;
- social competence and ability to act as a leader;

Further desirable qualifications:
- competence in another language taught at the department;
- experience in interdisciplinary collaboration;
- relevant professional experience outside the university;
- relevant professional experience abroad.

The University of Innsbruck is committed to increasing the percentage of

The basic salary is set down in the collective bargaining agreement for
university employees. Professors are in the remuneration group A 1. For the
position the monthly salary is 4.891,10 Euro (14 x). Depending on
qualification and experience a higher salary can be a topic in the
