Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics

Call Deadline: 11-Feb-2018

Meeting Description:

The Manchester Forum in Linguistics (mFiL) is an annual international
conference which brings together new researchers from every field of
linguistics. The aim of the event is to share current work, results and
problems and to provide information and advice for postgraduate students and
early career researchers. This includes the presentation of papers, posters, a
careers panel and plenary talks, as well as dinner and drinks. This sixth
instalment will be held at the University of Manchester on 26-27 April 2018.

Call for Papers:

Submissions for oral and poster presentations in all areas of linguistics are
welcomed. Presentations should be no more than 20 minutes in length with 10
additional minutes allocated for questions, comments and discussion.
Preference will be given to abstracts which contain implications for
linguistic theory or employ novel methodology.

Authors are permitted to submit a maximum of one single-authored paper and one
co-authored paper or a total of two co-authored papers. Abstracts must be
fully anonymous.

Deadline:

11 February 2018 (midnight GMT)

Format:

Use one of the templates provided at https://github.com/mfil-uom. The format
of these templates is an A4-sized page with 2.5cm margins on all sides using a
single-spaced 12pt serif font, specifically Junicode (freely available to
download here: http://junicode.sourceforge.net/). Authors may alternatively
use another, similar serif font.

Abstracts should be either one or two pages in length. Additionally, there is
an upper word limit of 750 words. Both these restrictions include optional
extras such as glossed examples, tables, figures, references and the like. The
abstract title, author name(s), institution(s) and e-mail address(es) are
excluded from the word count. It is not necessary to specify the word count in
your abstract.

Submission:

via EasyChair at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=mfil2018 (If you have
not previously registered with EasyChair, you will need to do so in order to
submit an abstract.). Upon submission, you will be asked whether you would
like your abstract to be considered for an oral presentation, poster
presentation or either.

Notifications of acceptance will be sent by email by 28 February 2018.
