Description:

As an Associate Linguist, you will be performing semantic analysis on
linguistic data. You will also contribute to a number of other tasks to
improve natural language understanding systems.

Work will be done on-site in Mountain View or San Francisco, CA.

The tasks include: 
- Proposing and evaluating semantic and conceptual representations of actions,
events, situations, and similar entities
- Reviewing annotation policies and semantically annotated linguistic data
- Applying semantic and syntactic annotation to text
- Deriving NLP data for new and ongoing projects

Requirements: 
- Native-level speaker of English
- Degree in Linguistics or Computational Linguistics
- Experience in annotation work
- Knowledge of semantics and syntax
- Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts; learn in-house tools 
- Keen interest in technology and computer-literate 
- Excellent oral and written communication skills 
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills 
- Able to multitask effectively, and adjust smoothly to changing priorities

Preferred experience:
- Familiarity with lexical semantics and/or lexical resources such as VerbNet
and FrameNet
- Experience with programming/scripting, working in a Linux/Unix environment

Project duration: 6-12 months (with potential extension). This is a fixed-term
contract, not a permanent position.
