Description:

The Institute of English Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities is
seeking to appoint a

Professor (m/f) of Methodology English
(40 hours per week; fixed-term employment for 3 years pursuant to §99 (1) UG
(Austrian Universities Act); expected starting date October 1st 2017)

The incumbent will be expected to represent English Methodology in research
and in teaching within the teacher training programme English Studies and the
doctoral programme.

The incumbent will teach in various areas of English Methodology, relevant
areas of applied linguistics and research methodology.

The focus of the incumbent´s work should be in the general area of foreign
language didactics and language learning and teaching processes.

The incumbent should have experience with empirical research in these areas.
In addition, the incumbent will be expected to be actively involved in work
within the English Methodology’s research core area “Psychology of language
learning and teaching”.

Key responsibilities will also include the supervision of theses on all levels
in the area of modern foreign languages, and contribution in the doctoral
programme “Language Methodology and Language Learning and Teaching”.

Other requirements include cooperating on the development of regionally and
nationally relevant concepts of Austrian Teacher education in collaboration
with universities and non-university institutions as well as working together
with the Centre for Teaching and Learning at the Faculty of Arts and
Humanities and the „Habilitationsforum Fachdidaktik und Unterrichtsforschung“
(habilitation platform for research in didactics and the field of teaching and
learning).

The incumbent should also seek to promote national and international
subject-specific cooperation and find further links with other research core
areas within the institute and faculty.

In addition, we expect gender mainstreaming competence.
