Meeting Description:

MCC aims to integrate and promote both theoretical and applied research from
the interface of semantics, pragmatics, and discourse studies. It also invites
original research from linguistic interfaces (e.g. music, sign language,
professional language varieties, psycholinguistics).

Meaning, Context & Cognition   MCC 2017 (6th Symposium) to be held 20-22 April
2017 University of Lodz, Poland

Abstracts are invited for papers on topics relevant to the fields of meaning,
context & cognition with the goal of the conference to integrate and promote
both theoretical and applied research in a diachronic and synchronic
perspective from the interface of philosophy of language, semantics and
pragmatics. 

During the 2017 meeting we would like to focus on the following areas:

- Discourse
- Context (incl. explicit-implicit distinction)
- Speech Acts and Speech Actions (incl. law, music, emotions, cognitive
science, etc.)
- Linguistic Interfaces (incl. sign language use)
- Intercultural Issues
- Applications (use of corpora, teachability of pragmatic skills, experimental
studies, bilingual and multilingual contexts)

Abstract Submission:

Deadline (ext.) for abstract submission: 22 February 2017

Please email your proposal to: MCC at uni.lodz.pl (with a copy to Iwona
Witczak-Plisiecka (iw.plisiecka at gmail.com)). You can also register on-line at:

Abstracts should not be longer than 300 words. Please include your name,
affiliation and e-mail address. Abstracts will be double-blind peer-reviewed.
Paper presentations will be allowed 20 minutes, plus 10 minutes for
discussion.

Participants without a paper are asked to e-mail their affiliation details.

Papers and Post-Conference Publications:

A volume of peer-reviewed selected papers will be published with an
international publisher, a selection of papers can also be published in
Research in Language (RiL: https://www.degruyter.com/view/j/rela), an
abstracted international linguistics journal published by Lodz University
Press (on paper) and deGruyter Open (electronic version).
