Corps Prep Program (PCPP)

Position Summary:

The Department of Foreign Language Studies at Monmouth University is seeking
applications for a Specialist Professor of Spanish and Communication and
Coordinator of the Peace Corps Prep Program. This anticipated opening is for
the 2017-2018 academic year and is a one year initial appointment subject to
subsequent multi-year reappointments without limit.

The candidate would be expected to: teach 6 credits per semester (fall and
spring), including a First Year Seminar in the Peace Corps, upper-level
courses in Spanish Communication, and other Spanish courses to meet
departmental needs; oversee, coordinate and grow the Peace Corps Prep program;
recruit and advise students; work with the Vice Provost for Global Education
and the campus-wide advisory committee to administer all aspects of the
program.

The Department of World Languages and Cultures provides a rigorous program in
linguistic and cultural competence in Spanish, Italian, French, German,
Arabic, Mandarin, Irish and Latin, with majors in Spanish and minors in
Spanish and Italian. Our graduates are employed both nationally and
internationally, boasting employment in a wide variety of fields including
public relations, education, law, finance, marketing, international business,
and social work.

Required Degree, License or Certifications:

Master's degree

Required Skills or Software:

Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

Other Requirements:

Master’s degree or higher in Spanish, Spanish or Applied Linguistics, or a
related field. Significant experience teaching Spanish at the college level.
Expertise and relevant experience in Spanish-speaking media.

Ability to teach language and content courses in Spanish at all levels,
including courses in linguistics, and Spanish for Communication, such as
Writing for the Media and Voice and Diction.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Journalism/Broadcasting and sound/visual technology.
