Description:
Expression of interest Doctoral Summer School on Process and Product
Methodologies in Translation and Interpreting Studies

The third edition of the Translation [and Interpreting] in Transition
Conference (TT3, http://www.eqtis.ugent.be/tt3/index.htm) will take place at
Ghent University, Belgium, on July 13-14, 2017. This conference aims to bring
together international researchers with a background in translation and
interpreting research, and focuses on recent technological and methodological
changes in both research fields.

Given sufficient interest, the TT3 conference will be preceded by a Doctoral
Summer School on Process and Product Methodologies in Translation and
Interpreting Studies (PPMTIS). The summer school would take place from 10 to
12 July, and feature international experts in translation and interpreting
research. The goal is to familiarize PhD students with new process and
product methodologies in TIS, for them to reflect on their application in
their own research and, through the conference following the summer school, to
reflect on the theoretical underpinnings of empirical research in translation
and interpreting. The course will be a combination of theoretical and hands-on
sessions, and will cover the research process from experiment and corpus
design to statistical analysis. We are aiming to organize the PPMTIS Doctoral
Summer School as a Ghent University Doctoral Schools specialist course, with
additional space for non-Ghent University students.

If you would be interested in attending this summer school, please send us
your expression of interest by January 31 at the latest, via e-mail to
tt3 at ugent.be. Be sure to include your name, research institution, a letter
from your supervisor approving your attendance, and, if possible, a brief
summary of your work and/or the questions you are trying to answer with your
research. This will enable us to better tailor the course to the attendees’
needs.

You will receive further information regarding the summer school via e-mail.
Please share this invitation with other researchers you think it may be of
interest to.
