Date of Employment: August 16, 2017; continuing, 9-month appointment. 

Required qualifications:  

Doctoral degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or related field. ABD
applicants will be considered if all requirements for the PhD will be
completed by August 15, 2017. If all requirements for the doctoral degree are
not completed by August 15, 2017, a term, non-tenure track appointment may be
offered in accordance with University policy

Demonstrated ability to mentor and supervise graduate and/or undergraduate
research and writing in the area of expertise; Evidence of an active research
agenda in TESOL; Evidence of excellence in ESL/EFL-related teaching;
Demonstrated ability to teach a range of graduate and undergraduate
TESOL-related courses; Exceptional English language fluency and communication
skills. 

Preferred qualifications: 

A strong publication record; Experience advising graduate students and
teaching TESOL courses at the graduate level; Experience teaching English in
the US and/or abroad; Evidence of expertise in two or more of the following:
language teacher training, L2 listening, L2 speaking, classroom-based
research, bilingual/minority language education, working with child or young
adult (K-12) populations in ESL/EFL teaching and/or research, Computer
Assisted Language Learning. 

Duties: 

The successful candidate will contribute to TESOL programs at the BA and MA
levels. This position involves teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate
level, supervision of MA theses, maintaining an active independent research
agenda appropriate to the discipline, mentoring of students, and engaging in
service activities appropriate to academic rank. Typical teaching load for
untenured faculty in the department is two courses per semester.
