The Pragmatics Society of Japan invites abstracts for oral presentations,
poster presentations, and workshops to be presented at the 20th annual
conference. 

Important Dates:
Abstract Submission deadline: July 28, 2017 (11:59 JST)
Acceptance Notification: Late September, 2017
Program abstract deadline: October 13, 2017 (11:59 JST)
Full paper deadline (proceedings): March 3, 2018 (11:59 JST)

Call for Papers:

Submission Guidelines

Qualification (membership):
The first author of an oral/poster presentation and the coordinator of a
workshop MUST be a current member of the PSJ. Visit the following site for

Submission Guidelines: 

Presentations:
Oral Presentations: 25 min presentation + 10 min Q&A
Poster Presentations:1 hour
Workshops: 1 hour 40 min (3 or more presenters required)

Language: Japanese or English

Abstract Submission:
Abstracts must be submitted through Mypage.

Requirements (applicable to any type of presentation):
Formats: Paper Size: A4
Length: Japanese 2,500 letters or fewer or English 500 words or fewer
File format: Microsoft Word (doc /docx) or PDF
Submission: DO NOT include the author’s name and affiliation in the abstract 
Line space: Keep one line space between the title and the body of the abstract
Workshop: Submit one and only one abstract that summarizes the entire session

Notes: Abstracts that fail to meet any of the above-mentioned requirements may
be automatically rejected.
 Consult ''Studies in Pragmatics'' about the formats for the reference list.

Guidelines for abstract:

The abstract must be well-organized and logically consistent, and discuss the
following:
-Topic
-Adequate literature review and specific research questions
-Data
-Methods
-Results and Analyses
-Implications

Restrictions:
Submissions are limited to one individual and one joint abstract per author,
or two joint abstracts per author. One time only per first author or workshop
coordinator.

Duplicate Submissions:
An abstract will be considered to be a duplicate submission and automatically
rejected if there is substantial overlap in the technical content of the
abstract and any other work that is:
- under review at another publication
- has been accepted for another publication
- has appeared in another publication at any time before the conference review
process is complete

Applications from the author or group including the author will automatically
be rejected the following year in cases of duplicate submission.

Notes: 
“Publication” refers to any peer-reviewed academic archive such as conference
presentation, journal article, or book. The program committee of the PSJ will
determine the degree of overlap in technical content.
Unpublished B.A. / M.A / Doctoral theses are NOT considered “publications” in
this context.
An abstract that has been rejected by another conference/journal review is not
considered as a duplicate submission.

Acceptance Notification: Late September, 2017

No show policies:
It is expected that at least one author will attend and present the
paper/poster at the conference. Authors who do not attend the conference
without notice will be considered as a “no-show” and announced as such at the
society HP. Applications from a no-show first author as well as all co-authors
will automatically be rejected the following year.
