Meeting Description:

The Society for Pidgin and Creole Linguistics will hold its annual winter
meeting from January 4-7, 2018 at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City,
Utah, in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Linguistic Society of
America (LSA). Abstracts on the phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics,
lexicon, social aspects, or any other feature pertinent to the linguistic
study of Pidgins, Creoles and other contact varieties are welcome for
anonymous review.


Call for Papers:

An abstract of approximately 500 words should be submitted using EasyAbs. The
link is http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/spcl2018 .  After your title, clearly
identify the area in which your submission should be reviewed (e.g.
morphology, sociolinguistics). Please do not include your name or other
revelatory information in the abstract.  Individuals who are unable to access
EasyAbs should email their abstract as an MS Word document to
spclsociety at gmail.com. Include ''SPCL Salt Lake City Abstract'' in the subject
line. 

Abstract submission deadline is August 20, 2017. Acceptance notification will
be sent in late September. 

Registration and hotel accommodation at the Grand America Hotel are arranged
through the LSA. SPCL members may take advantage of the room rates negotiated
by the LSA  ($124 per night single/double; $134 per night triple; $144 per
night quad). Student rooms are available at the Little America Hotel; these
have also been negotiated by the LSA ($94 per night single/double; $104 per
night triple; $114 per night quad). Full details, instructions, and links for
online hotel room reservation will be available on LSA’s website
(https://www.linguisticsociety.org/event/lsa-2018-annual-meeting ) as of 
September 1. It is important that LSA attendees use the dedicated website if
reserving a room online, or mention the Linguistic Society of America rate
when reserving by phone, in order to take advantage of the special rates and
concessions the LSA has negotiated for attendees.
