We are now inviting abstracts for part two of this workshop, where a selection
of research will illustrate the current state of the art, with a focus, e.g.,
on multimodality, the gesture-sign interface, composite meaning construction,
“embodiment” and/or presenting work from a range of more recent approaches and
theoretical frameworks such as cognitive and corpus linguistics, construction
grammar, pictorial semantics, etc. Abstract submissions for this part of the
workshop will follow the general conference call – see the information below.

In addition, we also encourage researchers to contact the workshop organizers
directly if they have a special contribution or idea for part one or part
three of the workshop. Researchers are also encouraged to look through the
open call and other workshops – as it would be a positive trend to see more
signed language research represented at the conference generally.

Finally, we would like to mention that the International Society of Gesture
Studies will also hold their conference in Cape Town from 4-8 July
(http://www.isgs8conference.com/). We are in contact with the organizers of
ICL20 and ISGS8 to discuss how to best accommodate researchers who would
benefit from attending both conferences.

Kind regards,

The workshop organizers

Myriam Vermeerbergen (KU Leuven & Stellenbosch University), in collaboration
with: Lindsay Ferrara & Anna-Lena Nilsson (NTNU, Norwegian University of
Science and Technology), Terry Janzen (University of Manitoba), Lorraine
Leeson (Trinity College Dublin), Barbara Shaffer (University of New Mexico).

Abstract and submission guidelines:

Abstracts to part two of the workshop should be submitted through the abstract
portal on the conference website:
http://icl20capetown.com/index.php/2016-06-20-10-33-33/abstracts

Authors will be required to create a user account to be able to proceed to
submission.
It is possible to create and save a draft of the abstract and then return
later to submit.
Please note that after submission, no changes can be made.

Submission requirements state that the abstracts must be written in English
and should be between 200 and 350 words. Please do not include images or
diagrams.

Heading: Please do not type all letters of the heading in capital letters.
Please use sentence case.
Abstract Text: You can prepare your text in MS Word and cut and paste into the
text box, or you can type directly in the abstract text box.
Paragraph breaks: Please use paragraph breaks where necessary

Generally, it is expected that delegates would not present more than one
single-authored paper in the conference. Exceptions will be made in the case
of papers with multiple authorships, invitations to make an additional
presentation at a workshop by a workshop convenor, or senior scholars making
an additional presentation with a junior colleague or student.
