Job Title: Postdoctoral position in Language Technology and Cognitive Computational Modelin
Job Rank: Post Doc

Specialty Areas: Cognitive Science; Computational Linguistics; Natural Language Processing

Description:

The Department of Nordic Research, Faculty of Humanities, University of
Copenhagen (UCPH), Denmark, invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral
position in Language Technology and Cognitive Computational Modeling to be
filled by 1 December 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The successful candidates will be attached to the Centre for Language
Technology (CST), which is one of the four sections of the department.

CST conducts research in different areas of interest for language technology,
such as natural language processing, language technology infrastructure and
resources, machine learning, and multimodal communication (see
http://cst.ku.dk/english/forskning/), and is seeking to strengthen its
research profile in the field of computational cognitive modelling of
language. The Centre has a strong international profile, at the same time as
pursuing the development of language technology methods and resources for the
Danish language. It has considerable experience managing international
research projects, frequently attracts visiting researchers and has organised
major conferences in the field. Together with the Department of Computer
Science of the University of Copenhagen, it offers an international MSc
programme in IT and Cognition. The programme, which currently admits about 30
students a year, consists of a range of courses in the areas of Natural
Language Processing and Computational Cognition.

Job content:

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to continue to pursue
her/his research goals, which we see as being related to computational
modeling and/or experimental analysis of phenomena involving language, speech,
or multimodal behaviours.

The candidate will also contribute with teaching to the MSc in IT and
Cognition. More specifically, s/he will be responsible for the teaching of the
Cognitive Science courses. More detail on the programme as a whole and the
individual study units are provided at
http://studies.ku.dk/masters/it-and-cognition/.
We expect the teaching load to make up for 30% of the position at the most.

Qualification requirements:

In order to be considered for the position applicants must have research
qualifications at least corresponding to what can be achieved as part of a
successfully completed PhD within a relevant field, including international
publications in the relevant research areas.

More specifically, we are seeking a candidate with expertise in computational
cognition, cognitive modeling of language use, and quantitative methods.
Ability to work with eye-tracking or neurocognitive methods such as EEG will
be considered an additional asset.
