Meeting Description:

We are glad to announce that the 44th Incontro di Grammatica Generativa (IGG,
Generative Grammar Meeting) will be held in Rome (Università degli Studi Roma
Tre) on March 1-3, 2018.

The IGG represents the most important Italian venue for discussions on every
aspect of generative grammar and formal linguistics.

The conference will deal with any topic in generative grammar and the formal
study of language, including linguistic submodules and their interfaces,
language acquisition and psycholinguistics.

The conference will host oral presentations and poster sessions.

The official language is English.

The 44th Incontro di Grammatica Generativa (IGG, Generative Grammar Meeting)
will be held in Rome (Università degli Studi Roma Tre) on March 1-3, 2018. The
official web-page of the conference is:

e/

Invited Speakers:

Main Session:
Adriana Belletti (Università di Siena)
Guglielmo Cinque (Università 'Ca' Foscari' Venezia)
Timothy Stowell (UCLA University)

Workshop:
Richard Kayne (New York University)
Louise McNally (Universitat Pompeu Fabra Barcelona)

Call for Papers:

Abstracts for the Main session are welcome on any topic in Generative Grammar,
nevertheless, preferred topics for papers can be:
- Mapping natural language to syntax (cartographic topics) and related
controversial issues.
- Theoretical issues and empirical interfaces on L1 and/or L2 acquisition. -
The syntax-semantics interface: theoretical and cognitive implications.
- The syntax-prosody interface: fieldwork, corpus-based studies and elicited
data.
- Big data, experiments and gradient judgments: controversial issues and
proposals for solutions.
- Language evolution and the nature of the language faculty.

Authors are also invited to submit their abstract for the Workshop on
Existential Constructions (WEC-SIR), combined with the IGG44 and taking place
on March 1st (afternoon session) and 2nd (morning session) 2018. Existential
Constructions provide an issue of intensive and relevant research in the
literature, as their modular and interface-based study can shed light on the
functioning of human language, including cognitive aspects, the nature of
predication and the information-structural quality of marked constructions.
For details concerning suggested research topics follow this link:
http://lingueletteratureculturestraniere.uniroma3.it/bacheca/igg-2018/workshop
/

Authors are asked to submit their abstracts (for both the main session and the
Workshop) in PDF format via EasyChair using this link:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=igg44

Abstracts should not exceed two pages in length (12-point type, Times New
Roman, single line spacing, 2.5 cm (1 inch) margins) including: examples and
tables (integrated in the text, rather than collected at the end of the
abstract), references, title, three keywords/phrases that best describe the
abstract content. Submissions must be anonymous and should not reveal the
identity of the author(s) in any form, including the file name of the
abstract: references to the author(s)' previous work should be made in the
third person. Submission are limited to a maximum of one individual and one
joint abstract per author or two joint abstracts per author, considering the
Main session and the Workshop as a unique event. Submission for either the
Main Session or the Workshop will be indicated (as an obligatory requirement)
on the relevant EasyChair page. When submitting, please also indicate whether
your abstract should be considered for presentation only, for poster only or
for both.

Finally, selection for the Marica De Vincenzi Award must be also indicated
(providing the relevant additional document, cf.
http://lingueletteratureculturestraniere.uniroma3.it/bacheca/igg-2018/home-pag
e/).

The talks will be 20 minutes + 10 minutes for discussion.

The official language of the conference will be English.
