Description:

Senior Research Manager for Primary ELT
c. £35k + benefits

About the role:

This is an exciting and challenging new role for someone who is strongly
interested in applying research to publishing ELT courses for Primary level
learners. The job is based in Cambridge, UK, but which will involve
collaboration with colleagues around the world and some international travel
(2-4 times a year). You will be working within the English Language Teaching
(ELT) Research and Teacher Development team, taking responsibility for
research projects in Primary ELT and the application of research insights into
our course publishing.

Cambridge Primary ELT publishing is growing fast and at the core of our
approach is the application of research-based insights into learning to the
design of materials and course methodology. The Research team includes
specialists in language and pedagogical research, and we are now looking to
add a Primary ELT specialist. There is also an increasing requirement for
research into learning using digital resources and devices. The research
programme will be determined by our publishing priorities, and will be very
varied and fast-moving.

Research at Cambridge is collaborative – depending on research colleagues,
publishing colleagues and researchers in other institutions. A key part of
the role is management of projects as well as direct involvement in research.

About you:

We are looking for someone with experience of both research projects and of
teaching at Primary ELT level. A good understanding of the use of technology
in the Primary classroom is essential. Experience with developing materials
would also be very useful.

The main focus of the role is on research into what supports effective
language learning – such as impact studies or evaluation projects. An
understanding of academic issues around research is essential, as is an
awareness of the commercial context within which we work.

You will need to be a great collaborator, working well in teams, and with good
project management skills. In addition, we are looking for someone who can
communicate the outcomes of research projects effectively and persuasively –
to publishing teams, to teachers and to other researchers. .

The Press has six behavioural values all our colleagues live by;
collaborative, decisive, empowering, innovative, responsible and responsive.
Particularly this role requires you to work collaboratively within a team in
Cambridge and globally and you will be responsive to their needs and the needs
of the business.
