Meeting Description:

The Korean Society of Speech Sciences (KSSS) will host the 2017 Seoul
International Conference on Speech Sciences (SICSS 2017) between 10 and 11
November 2017 at Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea. The aim of this
conference is to bring together professionals from all disciplines in
phonetics, communication disorders (speech pathology and audiology), and
speech engineering to build bridges among them. To this end, keynote
presentations and other plenary events are planned, which will highlight the
contributions of interdisciplinary approaches to the understanding and
development of speech sciences.

Keynote Speakers:

1. Professor James E. Flege (University of Alabama, Birmingham, USA)
Keynote Speech: The role of input in L2 speech acquisition
Tutorial Lecture: The VOT dimension in the interface between English and
Romance Languages

2. Professor Carol Stoel-Gammon (University of Washington)
Keynote Speech: Crosslinguistic investigations of phonological development:
The search for universal patterns
Tutorial Lecture: Early phonological development: Qualitative patterns and
quantitative measures

3. Professor Tatsuya Kawahara (Kyoto University)
Keynote Speech: Modelling difficulties of second language learners using
speech technology
Tutorial Lecture: Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) using speech
technology


2017 Seoul International Conference on Speech Sciences (SICSS 2017)

- Oral presentation - 20 minutes (15 minute talk + 5 minute discussion)
- Poster presentation  

Abstract Submission:
Abstracts must be written in English and must not exceed two pages in length
(references and graphics included). The templates for the abstract can be
found at the conference homepage (http://www.sicss.or.kr/) and submissions
should be made online at EasyChair
(https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=sicss2017) between 1 May and 31
August, 2017. Papers will be accepted on a rolling basis, with authors of
accepted abstracts notified within two weeks of submission. Revised abstracts
for accepted papers should be submitted between 1 and 15 September, 2017.

- Abstract submission opened: Monday, 1 May 2017
- Abstract submission deadline: Thursday, 31 August 2017
- Notification is to be sent within two weeks after receiving the abstract.
- Revised abstract/paper due: Friday, 15 September 2017
- Early bird registration opened: Monday, 2 October 2017
- Early bird registration deadline: Friday, 27 October 2017
