Description:

The Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at the
University of Oklahoma seeks a highly qualified and diverse applicant pool for
a full-time lecturer (PhD) / instructor (MA) position in Arabic to start
August 16th, 2017 (arrival in Norman, Oklahoma by August 1st). For information

The successful candidate will be comfortable using the communicative method
for language teaching and will be a team player in terms of collaborating on
teaching methodologies, materials, and projects, carrying out service to the
section and department, and participating in extra-curricular activities
associated with the Arabic Flagship Program. The position is a five-year,
renewable, 9-month faculty appointment and carries a teaching load of 24
credit hours per year (typically a 3:3 load which may include first through
third-year courses). OU (http://www.ou.edu/) is a Carnegie R-1 comprehensive

World Literature Today, the South Central Modern Languages Association, the
Fred Jones Museum of Art, and the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History. The

Minimum requirements: Master’s degree in a related field at the time of
appointment (e.g. Arabic language, linguistics, or applied linguistics) and
familiarity with instructional technology and online resources. Applicants
must have experience teaching Arabic as a foreign language at the college
level as well as native or near-native proficiency in Modern Standard Arabic
plus at least one dialect.

Preferred qualifications: Familiarity with content-based and domain-based
instruction; ACTFL and/or ILR standards; experience with overseas programs,
and assessment protocols. A Ph.D. is desirable but not required.
