Meeting Description:

The colloquium provides a forum for discussion of recent research on language
acquisition and language learning. It is primarily intended as a venue for
researchers and doctoral students to present ongoing work on any topic
relevant to L1 and 2L1 acquisition, L2 and L3 learning. This year’s theme is
“Early bilingualism: areas of vulnerability”.

The Center for the Study of Language Development and Linguistic Communication,
University of Bucharest is pleased to announce the 5th Bucharest Colloquium on
Language Acquisition, (BUCLA 5) which will be held at the University of
Bucharest on November 24, 2017. 

Keynote speakers:

Maria Teresa Guasti, University of Milan-Bicocca
Tihana Kraš, University of Rijeka


Call for Papers:

The goal of BUCLA 5 is to bring forward recent theoretical and experimental
work on early bilingual language acquisition from a formal perspective. We
therefore invite contributions related to (but not limited to) any of the
following issues:
- Linguistic interfaces and early bilingualism
- Feature interpretability in dual language acquisition
- Structural complexity and surface overlap 
- Autonomous development and cross-linguistic influence
- The role of language dominance 
- Early and late child bilinguals
- Clinical markers of SLI and dyslexia in 2L1 

We invite one-page abstract submissions (TNR 11, single-spaced, 1-inch
margins), including data and references, for 30 minute-long oral presentations
(20 minutes for the presentation and 10 minutes for discussions). The
abstracts must be in English and they should be sent to:  bucla5 at lls.unibuc.ro

Deadline for submissions: 1 September 2017
Notification of acceptance: 30 September 2017

All authors who present in the colloquium will be invited to submit their
paper for a volume of selected contributions.
