Description:

The Faculty of Humanities at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen invites
applications for a level W2 professorship in linguistics
(semantics/pragmatics) at the Department of English, starting 01.04.2018.

The successful candidate will be responsible for academic duties in research
and teaching in English linguistics with a focus on semantics and/or
pragmatics. We especially seek a candidate with profound knowledge of novel
theoretical developments in semantics and/or pragmatics and methodological
experience in obtaining and interpreting empirical data.

The formal requirements for an appointment as a tenured professor are in
accordance with the legislation of the State of Lower Saxony (§ 25,
Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz). Appointments will be made by the
university according to the laws of Lower Saxony. Details will be provided
upon request.

Candidates are required to have proven experience in English academic teaching
and to be internationally visible in their research. A Habilitation or
equivalent qualification would be an asset. The ideal applicant is able to
actively cooperate, theoretically and empirically, in interdisciplinary
linguistic research clusters in the joint research network “Language and
Cognition”. The successful candidate will also contribute to the development
of linguistic curricula at the Faculty of Humanities. Active participation in
academic administration will be expected.
