Description:

The Institute of English Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities is
seeking to appoint a 
Tenure-track professorship pursuant to § 99 Para. 5 of the University Act (UG)
“English linguistics”

(40 hours/week; initially with a limited term of 6 years with Tenure Track; to
be occupied in winter semester 2017/18) 

The tenure-track professor is to represent the subject of English linguistics
with a special focus on psycholinguistics or first or second language
acquisition in both research and teaching (including the new teacher
training). The focus should be on the study of language development, language
usage and the interaction of linguistically and socially differentiated
societies (e.g. with regard to multilingualism, age, sex, ethnicity,
socioeconomic status, expertise, etc.), and to complement the already existing
strengths within the Institute and the University are given the necessary
support. To this end, the tenure-track is to  cultivate, establish and expand
intra-institutional, national and international cooperation and to promote the
public's perception of the subject. 

The candidate is expected to hold a doctorate or PhD in the field of English
Linguistics with specialisation in psycholinguistics or first or second
language acquisition. In addition, we expect gender mainstreaming competence.
