the Department of Design and Communication at the University of Southern
Denmark. The position is anchored to an interdisciplinary research project
comprising linguists, social scientists, computational linguists and
roboticists. In this project, based on needs analyses in the Danish healthcare
system, robot applications which will support elderly users in their daily
lives, will be developed and tested.

The Ph.D. student is expected to contribute to the research project by
carrying out experimental and ethnographic user studies of various kinds and
by developing persuasive dialog and responsive robot behaviors supporting the
development of an incremental dialog system for Danish. The requirements for
the positions are therefore:

technological innovation processes. We expect applicants to communicate a
passion for their subject, deliver research of high international standard and
be able to engage in our progressive interdisciplinary teaching and learning
environment. The PhD student’s research project may concern issues of
human-robot interaction, persuasive human-robot dialog, assistive systems for
the elderly or similar topics that are related to the aims of the project.
