Meeting Description:

The 7th edition of the International Conference on Experimental Phonetics will
take place in November 2017 in Madrid, a few weeks before the year that
commemorates the hundredth anniversary of the publication of Manual de
pronunciación española, a book by Tomás Navarro Tomás, a pioneer in this
field. As in the first sessions of this conference, one of its main aims is to
promote an interdisciplinary debate among different areas of Phonetics and
Linguistics, namely, 
 
- Articulatory Phonetics
- Acoustic Phonetics
- Auditory phonetics
- Applied Phonetics: Forensic, Clinical, Speech Technology, Language
Acquisition
- Prosody, Pragmatics, Discourse Analysis
- Phonetics and Phonology
- History of Phonetics
- Variation and Variability in Phonetics

The plenary lectures at the opening and closing sessions will be delivered by
two specialists in close fields, who have contributed to develop the insights
of experimental phonetics from their areas of specialization: Victoria
Escandell-Vidal and Elvira Mendoza Lara. 

Furthermore, the congress will host the round-table “Del Manual de
Pronunciación Española al 7CIFE: 100 años de fonética experimental en España”
as well as several seminars on different phonetic-related issues.
