for a thematic issue of Lingvisticæ Investigationes
(http://infolingu.univ-mlv.fr/LI/LINGVISTICAEINVESTIGATIONES.html)

Issue Title: « Looking for regularity and finding only chaos? Problems and
challenges in Galloromance morphosyntactic microvariation »

Guest Editors:

Elisabeth Stark (Zurich) & Benjamin Massot (Stuttgart)

Call:

The detailed call is to be found here:
(http://www.rose.uzh.ch/dam/jcr:d3483793-6f41-4116-96fe-f8dbff3a88ed/Gallroman
ce-Morphosyntax-call-for-papers-Lingvisticae-Investigationes-Stark-Massot.pdf)

Papers should explicitly focus on all of the following aspects:
(i) morphosyntax or syntax,
(ii) the Galloromance dialectal domain,
(iii) data, at best first-hand data, from more than one variety, be it
varieties from inside the Galloromance domain or a sub-domain of it, or from
neighboring Romance varieties.

We suggest the following topics (other relevant topics are also welcome,
diachronic studies included):

- potential and underused sources of Galloromance morphosyntax data; the
creation of new resources;
- relations between grammars of different non-standard Galloromance varieties
(primary and secondary dialects, French-based creoles, regional French and
vernacular French varieties);
- comparison with other dialectal situations (like with the Northern-Italian
dialects, with Catalan, or within the Galloromance sub-areas - Oïl, Oc,
Francoprovençal, Creoles);
- the relevance of the data presented for French linguistics, and for a more
globally conceived linguistic study of French;
- the pursuit of formalizations and constraining hypotheses concerning the
extend of possible variation.

Submission Guidelines:

- Papers are submitted anonymously. Submissions should be 12-15 pages,
including references.
- Typographical conventions:
http://infolingu.univ-mlv.fr/LI/LINGVISTICAEINVESTIGATIONES.html,
"Submission".
- Dialectal examples should be presented following the Leipzig Glossing Rules
(https://www.eva.mpg.de/lingua/resources/glossing-rules.php), and with a third
line of idiomatic translation.
- Papers can be submitted in French or in English.
- Papers must be sent via email to both editors of the issue(estark at rom.uzh.ch
and benjamin.massot at wanadoo.fr). The body of the message will give name(s) and
affiliation(s) of the author(s).
