Subject: Celebrating John Sinclair

 
10 years ago this day, 13 March 2007, John McHardy Sinclair passed away.
Despite his numerous achievements, he left so much unfinished. As the founder
of corpus linguistics, his legacy in both linguistics and lexicography is
enormous. A group of his friends and admirers has launched a Facebook page for
all those who would like to celebrate his life and work. This Facebook page
grew out of discussions between Rūta Petrauskaité, Geoffrey Williams,
František Čermák, Wolfgang Teubert, and of course Elena Tognini-Bonelli.  It
is open to all who wish to add photos, videos and reminiscences about John
McHardy Sinclair and anything else related to Sinclairian corpus linguistics.
As not everyone uses Facebook, we would like to think that this thread will
also grow as a tribute to John and corpus linguistics. Our hope that this page
will become an informal forum for those who are interested in the type of
relationship between languages and computers that was central to John’s own
thoughts.
