Department of Comparative Culture Studies and Institute of Linguistics at Adam
Mickiewicz University are announcing the 2nd International Conference on
Comparative Studies of Language and Culture, titled Dirty, Repulsive,
Unwanted, which will be held on 18-19 September, 2017 in Poznań, Poland.

The Conference will provide an opportunity to present insights on comparative
research on language, literature and culture studies. We hope that the broad
spectrum of the issues discussed will help outline current research on culture
and inspire discussion on its future. The conference will also provide an
opportunity for Participants to share results of their research on different
languages and cultures.


Call for Papers:

2nd International Conference 
Comparative Studies of Language and Culture: Dirty, Repulsive, Unwanted 
18-19 September, 2017
Poznań, Poland
                                                           

The Conference will provide an opportunity to present insights on comparative
research on language, literature and culture studies. We hope that the broad
spectrum of the issues discussed will help outline current research on culture
and inspire discussion on its future. The conference will also provide an
opportunity for Participants to share results of their research on different
languages and cultures.

The following list contains some potential topics to be addressed in 20-minute
paper presentations:

- Linguistics
- Forbidden in language, forbidden languages
- Unwanted in lexicography 
- Unwanted words in various spheres of communication
- Taboo language
- Omitted in translation 
- Literary studies
- Rejection as motif in literature and art
- Aesthetics of artistic expression
- Dirty, Repulsive, Unwanted in cinema
- Culture and social studies
- Exclusion in culture and society
- Internet as source of new aesthetics
- Artefacts of culture 
- Myth and folklore
- Special sessions
- Cultural implants
- Excretions / secretions of culture
- Unwanted in dictionaries

Papers prepared for special sessions can be included in separate, thematic
publications.

Abstracts (up to 400 words) in one of the conference languages (Polish,
English or Russian) together with application forms in .doc/.docx formats
should be sent to: ijconferencepoznan at gmail.com by May 31 2017. 

Notification of acceptance will be sent by June 12 2017.

Conference fee for Participants is 350 PLN/85 EUR and includes conference
materials, coffee and lunch breaks and the publication of selected papers.
Please note that the conference fee must be paid in advance. There is no
possibility of payment at the arrival. When accepted by publishers and after
receiving positive reviews, the articles will be published in the Conference
Proceedings. Papers written in Russian might be published in Studia Rossica
Posnaniensia if accepted by publisher and after receiving positive reviews.
Conference fee for Guests is 150 PLN/40EUR and includes coffee and lunch
breaks.

Costs of accommodation, transportation and medical insurance must be arranged
separately by Participants or Institutions.
