Description:

The Department of German Language and Literature I at the Faculty of Arts and
Humanities at the University of Cologne is looking to fill a Doctoral research
and teaching position.

The position will start as soon as possible. The position offered is part time
(50%, 19.92 hours per week). The initial contract is limited to three years,
with a possible extension for another three years. The applicant is expected
to carry out research for a doctoral project on one of the following (or
related) phenomena: negation, ellipsis, non-assertive speech acts, information
structure. Furthermore, s/he will teach one BA seminar per term (in German)
and carry out some administrative work. If the pay scale requirements are met
the position will be remunerated in accordance with pay grade 13 TV-L.

The applicant must have a Master's degree in linguistics or a related
discipline (e.g. German philology). S/he should be familiar with modern
linguistic theories. Experience with quantitative research methods
(experiments, corpus analysis) is welcome. The applicant is required to have
excellent command of both German and English.
