Meeting Description:

The Faculty of Philology, University of Łódź is holding its 2nd international
and interdisciplinary conference ''Languages for Specific Purposes. Education
and Career Opportunities'' - SPECLANG 2017

This conference has been envisaged as a forum to exchange ideas and share
experience by academics, teachers, coaches, business entities and other
stakeholders operating in the higher education sector and professional
environments.  

The conference aims to explore a broad range of issues devoted to LSPs
(Languages for Specific/Special Purposes) such as (the list is not exhaustive)
LSP teaching and training, esp. LSPs and academic curricula, LSPs and current
job market requirements and needs, Multilingualism and Language policies,
relations between academia and industry, technical/specialized translation,
corporate identity and corporate discourse, etc.

The conference presentations and lectures will be accompanied by a special
event devoted to student professional competence development, giving students
the unique opportunity to meet their prospective employers, as well as to talk
to experts, professional development coaches, HR specialists, etc.

A list of plenary speakers will be provided in the next call.

Thanks to our sponsors, the conference fee is only 70 EUR and it covers the
following:

- Giving a paper
- Abstract publication on the conference website
- Publication in conference proceedings (if accepted after peer-reviews)
- Refreshments (3 and 4 November)
- Conference dinner (3 November)
- Lunch (4 November)

Conference languages are English, German and Polish.


Call for Papers:

We invite individual submissions for 30-minute presentations (allowing 10
minutes for questions). Abstracts of up to 300 words should be sent (using the
registration form available from the conference website) not later than 30
June 2017.

Abstract should be sent using the registration form available on the
conference website.
