Description:

The Department of Linguistics in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at
the University of Connecticut invites applications for a one-year Visiting
Assistant Professorship in Syntax with an anticipated start date of August 23,
2017.

This position carries a teaching load of two courses per semester, as well as
advising and other responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Completed requirements for a Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Linguistics or a
related field by start date of employment; evidence of a strong
research/publication trajectory; ability to teach effectively at the graduate
and undergraduate level; and active research interests integrating well with
those of the Department’s current faculty members

Preferred Qualifications:

Evidence of excellence in research; a research profile that expands the
linguistic and/or methodological diversity of the department; expertise in
another area of linguistics, such as acquisition, fieldwork or phonology;
evidence of potential for excellence in teaching and advising; ability to
contribute through research, teaching, and/or public engagement to the
diversity and excellence of the learning experience.

Appointment Terms:

This is a one-year, full-time, nine (9)-month, non-tenure track appointment.
Salary is competitive and based on qualifications and professional experience.
The successful candidate’s primary academic appointment will be at the UConn
Storrs campus.
