Chair Professors

The University is seeking to appoint senior academics who are creative,
future-oriented with a passion for their work and a willingness to lead teams
of bright and young academics towards successful careers and making a positive
impact in their communities.

The applicants are expected to have a strong publication record and
international reputation. They should also have leadership experience; be good
teachers; and be able to contribute to collaborative research and academic
programme development, to secure external funds, and to serve the community
with their expertise. Applicants should also have an appreciation of the
rewards and challenges of working in a multicultural context.

Applications are invited from the following Departments:  

Department of English Language Education / Department of Linguistics and
Modern Language Studies 

English Language Studies (Ref : CPP/ELE/LML/0417)
 
Applicants should have a doctoral degree in English Language or a related
discipline. They should also have a strong publication record and strong
international reputations/networks, leadership experience and be able to
demonstrate effective university teaching, familiarity with student
practicums, and the ability to contribute to collaborative research and
academic programme development, to secure external funds, and to serve to the
profession. The ideal candidates should have expertise in one or more of the
following areas: Teaching English as a second or foreign language; second
language acquisition; discourse; sociolinguistics; and varieties of English.
