Description:

Three position for Ph.D. students in the fields of Cognitive Psychology,
Psycholinguistics, and Experimental Pragmatics are to be filled as of 1st of
July, 2017 as Research Assistants („Wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in”) with
an E13 TV-L 65% salary schema:

1. Cognitive Psychology/Psycholinguistic (4 years, until 30th of June, 2021,
supervisor: Markus Janczyk, Dept. of Psychology)
2. Experimental Pragmatics/Psycholinguistic/Cognitive Modeling (4 years, until
30th of June, 2021; supervisors: Michael Franke and Gerhard Jäger, Dept. of
Linguistics)
3. Experimental Pragmatics/Psycholinguistic/Cognitive Modeling (3 years,
supervisor: Michael Franke)

Positions 1 and 2 are funded within the DFG Collaborative Research Center “SFB
833 (“The Construction of Meaning: The Dynamics and Adaptivity of Linguistic
Structures”), and Position 3 is funded within the DFG Priority Program SPP
1727 (“XPrag.de”). The projects investigate the time-course of presupposition
processing (positions 1 and 2) and aim to develop probabilistic cognitive
models for data from behavioral tasks on pragmatic utterance generation and
online interpretation (positions 2 and 3).

Applicants should hold a university degree (Master or diploma) in Cognitive
Science, Psychology with a focus on Cognitive Psychology, or Linguistics, and
they should bring a strong interest in the study of natural language,
knowledge of experimental methods and data analyses. Programming skills (e.g.,
MatLab, R, C++) are an advantage. Successful applicants will work on a Ph.D.
dissertation in Psychology (position 1) or Linguistics (positions 2 and 3).
Duties include the development and realization of cognitive models and
experimental studies, data analyses, presentation of results at scientific
conferences, and publication in international journals.

The positions may start July 1st, 2017 or soon after. Payment is offered
according to TV-L (Tarifvertrag für den Öffentlichen Dienst der Länder) and
includes all usual supplementary services. Candidates will be officially
employed by the administration of the University of Tübingen. As the
University of Tübingen strives to increase the proportion of female employees
