Meeting Description:

The relationship between theoretical linguistics and applied linguistics is of
great importance, considering what the first can do for the second. If this is
true in general, it is more so in relation to the Arabic language. This
language still needs linguistic models and theoretical approaches that offer
practical solutions to the problems of its acquisition and use. Because
applied linguistics is influenced by various approaches proposed by
theoretical linguistics, and because it interacts with many disciplines, it is
essential to solving various problems of everyday language use. The task of
applied linguistics is to mediate between theoretical linguistics and language
use. Those interested in the Arabic language, in various fields and
disciplines, generally face difficulties and challenges that researchers in
applied linguistics should consider and propose solutions to.

It is for this purpose that this first international symposium on Arabic
Applied Linguistics is organized. Thus, the symposium seeks to open a
scientific debate on the following topics and issues: teaching Arabic;
acquisition of Arabic; language policy in the Arab world; translation and
terminology.
