Description:

Well-established scholars in Linguistics and/or Applied Linguistics are
invited to apply for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Associate or
Full Professor. The successful candidate will serve as Department Head for a
period of five years following appointment (with the possibility of renewal).
Appointment will be in the Department of Linguistics and Religious Studies
(College of Arts and Science) which has begun a process of transformation to a
department focused on Linguistics. The successful candidate will help lead
this transformation.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a PhD in a relevant area. Qualifications
and research background in Linguistics, plus a teaching and/or research
background in Applied Linguistics are required. A background in ESL will be an
asset. We particularly welcome applicants with administrative experience,
innovative research agendas, high research productivity, and evidence of
Tri-Council funding. 

The successful candidate is expected to develop a new vision for the
Department, secure its growth, enhance student enrollments, lead faculty group
research projects and lead the faculty in certifying our MA TESOL program. 
Responsibilities will include teaching a minimum of two courses (6cu) per year
of undergraduate and graduate Linguistics/Applied Linguistics courses, and
supervising graduate students. 

Salary bands for this position are as follows: 
- Associate Professor: $112,109 to $130,925
- Full Professor: $130,925 to $152,87

This position includes a comprehensive benefits package which includes a

summary of administrative experience, statement of research interests,
statement of teaching interests and philosophy, official summarized student
evaluations of teaching, copies of 3 major publications, and PhD and MA

be accepted and evaluated until the position is filled.  The anticipated start
date is July 1, 2018.
