Description:

Applications are invited for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of
Assistant Professor in the area of General or Applied Linguistics with primary
specialization in one or more of the following: Computational Linguistics,
Computer Assisted Language Learning, Speech or Text Processing, Corpus
Linguistics, and/or Artificial Intelligence, effective July 1, 2018.  The
appointment will initially be in the Department of Linguistics and Religious
Studies (College of Arts and Science, University of Saskatchewan) currently
under transformation to a department focusing on Linguistics.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a PhD in a relevant area (at the time of
the appointment) with primary research and teaching specialization in one or
more of the following: Computational Linguistics, Speech/Text processing, CALL
(Computer-assisted Language Learning), Corpus Linguistics and/or
language-related aspects of Artificial Intelligence. Demonstrated excellence
in teaching and a record of peer-reviewed academic articles published in
reputable journals are required. 

The responsibilities involve teaching 12 cu (four classes) per year of
undergraduate and graduate Linguistics/Applied Linguistics courses (including
Ling 349 Computational Linguistics, Ling 403.3 Research Methods, ESOL 803
Language Teaching Technologies, and other courses as required by the
Department). The candidate will be expected to develop new courses in the area
of his/her expertise.  

Salary band for this position is: Assistant Professor: $93,293 to $112,109

This position includes a comprehensive benefits package which includes a

expense allowance, and a flexible health and wellness spending program.
