Subject: Pragmatic Aspects of L2 SPA for Academic Purposes

 
I am conducting a study titled “Cultural and Pragmatic Aspects of L2 Spanish
for Academic Purposes”. The purpose of this survey is to assess the overall
current state of formal instruction of cultural and pragmatic aspects of L2
Spanish for academic purposes in higher education, at a time when college
student mobility is at its highest. Due to university agreements and exchange
programs, more students worldwide than ever before study at a Spanish-speaking
university for a period of time. Although students often posses the necessary
level of academic language competence to study content courses in the L2,
frequently they realize that language alone, without pragmatic and cultural
knowledge of the academic discourse and the academic setting, is not enough to
be a successful student at a foreign university functioning in an L2. The
survey should not take longer than 15 minutes to complete. It will remain open
until November 26, 2017.
