Meeting Description:

The Northwest Linguistics Conference (NWLC) is an annual conference for
graduate students to present their work and connect with other graduate
students both in the Northwest and from all over the world. It is hosted each
year at one of four universities in the Northwest: University of British
Columbia (UBC), Simon Fraser University (SFU), University of Washington (UW),
and University of Victoria (UVic).

This year, Simon Fraser University is happy to announce that the Department of
Linguistics will be hosting NWLC 34 April 28-29, 2018 at the SFU Harbour
Centre campus in downtown Vancouver, BC, located on the traditional ancestral
territories of Tsleil-Waututh, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm
(Musqueam) peoples.

Call for Papers:

34th Northwest Linguistics Conference Call for Papers

The Department of Linguistics at Simon Fraser University is pleased to host
the Northwest Linguistics Conference on April 28-29, 2018 in Vancouver, BC. We
invite graduate and undergraduate students in any area of theoretical or
applied linguistics to submit abstracts for a 30 minute talk (20 minutes for
presentation + 10 minutes for discussion) or for a poster presentation.

Abstracts must be at most two pages long (including data and references), on a
letter-sized sheet (8”1/2 by 11”) with 1” margins, and typed in 12-point font.
Abstracts should not include any identifying information, including numerous
references to one’s own work. Abstracts that do not follow the above format
will not be accepted. Submissions are limited to one individual and one joint
abstract per author.

The deadline for submissions is January 12, 2018, with replies to be sent by
February 12, 2018.

The Northwest Linguistics Conference is an annual conference for graduate
students in linguistics to share their work in a collegial atmosphere and meet
peers from other universities, both locally and internationally. The venue
rotates on a four-year cycle among University of British Columbia, Simon
Fraser University, University of Victoria, and the University of Washington.
