Description:

The Department of Language and Literature at the Norwegian University of
Science and Technology (NTNU) invites applications from qualified individuals
for a 3-year postdoc position within the research group AcqVA (Acquistion,
Variation & Attrition).

The Department of Language and Literature (ISL) is part of the Faculty of
Humanities, situated at Dragvoll campus in Trondheim. The Department has more
than 80 permanent academic staff and approximately 20 PhD candidates.

The AcqVA group (http://site.uit.no/acqva/) is a joint research group between
UiT The Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø and NTNU in Trondheim. The
Trondheim unit of the group consists of 18 researchers, including 3
professors, 4 associate professors, 1 postdoc, 8 PhD candidates, and 1 20%
adjunct professor.

In Trondheim, research has centered around understanding variation in closely
related varieties. The main focus to date has been on various aspects of
language variation, heritage grammars and increasingly on language
acquisition, including L2 and some emerging work on L3. In addition, members
now also work on sentence processing of several different phenomena. The group
actively uses a range of different methodologies in studying mental grammars
(acceptability judgments, corpora, eye-tracking). In terms of languages, the
main focus is on varieties of Norwegian and English, but work also covers
Hindi-Urdu, Dakkhini and Telugu. The advertised postdoc position opens up for
research projects on the same or other relevant language or dialect
combinations.

See the full announcement for additional information about the department,
AcqVA and the group in Trondheim:

chosen candidate’s research project
- to help organize the activities of the research group

The postdoc will also be involved in coordinating the activities of the
research group. Among others, this includes organizing weekly lunch seminars.

Qualifications:

The position as Post-doctoral Research Fellow requires a Norwegian doctoral
degree in Linguistics or another relevant field or a corresponding foreign
doctoral degree recognized as equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree.

The applicant must provide a project proposal with a progress plan for the
