Description:

The Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Erfurt (Thuringia, Germany)
invites applications for the following Professorship for the Winter Term 2018
/ 2019: Professor (W2 level, with tenure track to W3 level) of Applied
Linguistics with special focus on Psycholinguistics .

Duties:

The successful candidate will conduct their research and teaching in the area
of Applied Linguistics in accordance with the teaching requirements: They will
primarily offer relevant seminars for our MA Programme in Applied Linguistics:
Acquisition, Processing and Use of Language; they will also, depending on
their qualifications, contribute to teaching in our philological (i.e.
language-based) programmes at the Faculty of Philosophy. 

Requirements:

In addition to the general requirements for professorial posts, applicants
need to fulfil the prerequisites that are laid down in §77 Thüringer
Hochschulgesetz (Thuringian legal code for higher education). 

Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or other doctoral qualification in a
relevant area for this post, and a Habilitation (second doctoral degree) or a
comparably body of academic work, as well as excellent publications in the
area of applied linguistics (focus: psycholinguistics).  They will be expected
to actively participate in postgraduate training offered in the research group
“Sprachbeherrschung” which is part of one of the University’s main foci
“education”. Successful applicants will further have relevant teaching
experience and knowledge of the German language.  

Additional Information:

The W2 level Professorship initially is available for a fixed-term period of 5
years. In accordance with the career track program at the University of Erfurt
(https://www.uni-erfurt.de/forschung/karrierewege/erfurter-career-track/), it
is planned that if the person appointed to the fixed term W2 professorship
passes their evaluation at the end of their fixed-term W2 professorship, the
W2 professorship will then be transformed into a permanent W3 level
professorship.

applicant is expected to contribute foundational, interdisciplinary courses to
