Description:

The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of
Florida invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Chinese language
and culture to begin August 16, 2018. This is a full-time, renewable,
nine-month non-tenure accruing position.

Duties:
- teach three undergraduate language classes per semester
- contribute to a robust undergraduate major in Chinese language and
literature by collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth articulation
across the levels of language instruction and by participating in course
design and creation
- provide extracurricular support of the program through service that includes
placement or proficiency testing, weekly language tables, and other activities
relating to extracurricular Chinese language use
- supervise a Chinese study-abroad program in rotation with other instructors.
 

Requirements: 
- M.A. degree or higher in Chinese language or relevant area, including
second-language acquisition, linguistics and language pedagogy, and Chinese
culture. 
- Native or near-native proficiency in Chinese and English, and US
college/university-level teaching experience are required. Candidates with
demonstrated expertise in language-learning technology are particularly
welcome.

Compensation: Salary is competitive, commensurate with qualifications and
experience, and includes a full benefits package.

consideration, applications should be received by December 1, 2017, but the
search will remain open until the position is filled.

The final candidate will be required to provide an official transcript to the
hiring department upon hire. A transcript will not be considered “official” if
a designation of “Issued to Student” is visible. Degrees earned from an
educational institution outside of the United States must be evaluated by a
professional credentialing service provider approved by the National
Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), which can be found at
http://www.naces.org/
