Description:

The Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies at Hong Kong Polytechnic
University invites applications for a Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant
Professor in Applied Language Sciences.
  
The appointee will be required to (a) engage in teaching & related learning
activities at both undergraduate & postgraduate levels; (b) assume an
important role in curriculum design & development; (c) undertake academic
research in their areas of expertise, including making applications for
external research grants; (d) provide administrative support for academic
development & departmental objectives, and play an active role in programme
management; and (e) render professional service to the discipline and/or the
community at large.  Appointees at Professor/Associate Professor levels will
be expected to provide academic leadership in their areas of expertise.
  
Applicants should have a PhD degree in a relevant discipline preferably with
specialty in clinical linguistics, special needs education, language
pathology, speech therpay, neuroscience, computational linguistics, digital
humanities, or big data analytics. Additional expertise in other areas of the
humanities e.g. media studies/language & literature will be a significant
advantage. Preference will be given to those who are fluent in
Cantonese/Putonghua, and literate in written Chinese.
  
Applicants should also have (a) relevant post-qualification teaching/research
experience with proven record of relevant academic and/or professional
achievements; (b) a high level of fluency in English; and (c) a strong
commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarly activities & professional
service.
  
Applicants for appointment at (a) Assistant Professor level should normally
have evidence-based research experience as supported by evidence of research
projects & outputs. Experience of postdoctoral research positions will be a
plus; (b) Professor/Associate Professor levels should have substantial years
of relevant post-qualification experience with excellent record of relevant
academic and/or professional achievements.
