Description:

Founded in 1902, Nanjing University is one of the oldest and most prestigious
institutions of higher learning in China. The university is the first modern
Chinese university which combined teaching and research. Most recently, the
university is listed in “World First Class University Project” by the Ministry
of Education, China. The university has over 60 undergraduate programs and
more than 150 master and doctoral programs. The university encourages
interdisciplinary collaboration and is committed to highest standard in
excellence in teaching and research.

The Department of Linguistics, College of Liberal Arts at Nanjing University
now seeks applications for several full-time, tenure-tracked positions in
Chinese linguistics and/or general linguistics at the level of assistant
professor, with specialization in syntax, syntax-semantics interface,
phonology, and first language acquisition. 

The successful candidates will be required to teach 2-4h/week
undergraduate/graduate courses in the designated area of specialization,
advise undergraduate and graduate students, conduct and publish research in
area of specialization, pursue opportunities for external funding, and perform
administrative and professional tasks as assigned. 

The applicants should have (a) a Ph.D. in linguistics from a well-recognized
university; (b) relevant teaching/research experience with proven record of
academic and/or professional achievements; (c) a strong commitment to
excellence in teaching and research.
