Description:

The Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures at Texas Tech
University seeks an assistant professor in Spanish linguistics to start Fall
2018. We are interested in hiring a dynamic individual to direct the
lower-level program in Spanish in collaboration with a coordination team of
three full-time instructors. Specialization should be in Applied Linguistics
or Second Language Acquisition. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish
required. Must have Ph.D. in hand by beginning of appointment. Teaching will
be at the undergraduate (first year of hire) and graduate levels. Service
duties include program building and commitment to extracurricular activities
and to the department, college, and university. Salary will be commensurate
with qualifications. Candidates who have strong records of scholarship
supported by extramural funding and who have the proven capacity or clear
potential to bring externally sponsored research to Texas Tech University are
encouraged to apply. 

The Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures is a thriving
department with over ten programs of study and thirteen languages taught where
faculty and students pursue a range of interdisciplinary interests and where
language teaching and learning are supported by the Language Lab and Research
Center. The successful candidate will become a member of a community of
scholars committed to implementing language pedagogies that support
