Job Title: Formal Semantics
Job Rank: Assistant Professor

Specialty Areas: Semantics

Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst
invites applications for a tenure-track position in formal semantics at the
assistant professor level, starting September 1, 2018.

Information about the Department of Linguistics can be found at
http://www.umass.edu/linguistics/ and about the broader Cognitive Science
community at http://blogs.umass.edu/cogsci/.

We seek applicants with a strong record of research that complements that of
the current faculty, who can contribute breadth and depth to the department
with respect to research and teaching, and who are qualified to advise at the
graduate and undergraduate levels.

Qualified applicants should have a Ph.D. in linguistics by time of
appointment. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, and
the University offers an attractive benefits package.

To apply, please submit a letter of application, statement of research and
teaching interests, curriculum vitae, copies of research papers, evidence of
teaching ability, and a list of three current referees with full contact
information including valid email addresses to the link below.

Applicants should apply by the priority deadline of November 28, 2017 in order
to ensure consideration, but review of applications will continue until the
position is filled.

The university is committed to active recruitment of a diverse faculty and
student body. The University of Massachusetts Amherst is an Affirmative
Action/Equal Opportunity Employer of women, minorities, protected veterans,
and individuals with disabilities and encourages applications from these and
other protected group members. Because broad diversity is essential to an
inclusive climate and critical to the University's goals of achieving
excellence in all areas, we will holistically assess the many qualifications
of each applicant and favorably consider an individual's record working with
students and colleagues with broadly diverse perspectives, experiences, and
backgrounds in educational, research or other work activities. We will also
favorably consider experience overcoming or helping others overcome barriers
to an academic degree and career.

We are seeking talented applicants qualified for an assistant professor
position. Under exceptional circumstances, highly qualified candidates at
other ranks may receive consideration.
