Description:

The Department of Culture and Language Studies, Renison University College,
affiliated with the University of Waterloo, invites applications for one
tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. An
appointment date of July 1, 2018 is preferred.  

We are seeking candidates with a Ph.D. in applied linguistics, Teaching
English as a Second or Foreign Language (TESL or TEFL), or a related field.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching in these
fields; have a track record of publication, and an established research
program. Candidates with specializations in one or more of the following areas
are especially encouraged to apply: bilingual
(multilingual/plurilingual/translingual) education (in Canadian contexts),
English for Academic or Special purposes, sociolinguistics, or computer
assisted language learning. Experience in curriculum and program development,
as well as teaching experience in international settings are assets. The
successful candidate will be expected to work closely and collaboratively with
the Director of English Language Studies.

Renison University College, through its Department of Culture and Language
Studies, offers both a minor in Applied Language Studies (equivalent to
applied linguistics), and English language credit courses for University of
Waterloo students who speak a first language other than English. These courses
are called English for Multilingual Speakers (EMLS) courses and are offered
through the English Language Studies unit of the department.
