Description:

The Department of Romance Studies and Classics is one of the departments at
the Faculty of Humanities with about 80 employees and 1,000 students per year.
The main research areas are Literature, Romance Linguistics and Second
Language Acquisition. 

As a PhD student at the Faculty of Humanities you have the opportunity to
participate in the Faculty's Doctoral School, which offers themes and courses
characterized by interdisciplinarity and cooperation across subject borders.
The Doctoral School also gives you the chance to improve the quality of your
education thanks to the interchange provided by the community of PhD students
from other subjects and departments.

Project description:
The doctoral dissertation will be conducted within the Romance languages for
which we offer education at the research level, namely French, Italian,
Portuguese or Spanish (literature or linguistics).

Qualification requirements:
In order to meet the general entry requirements, the applicant must have
completed a second-cycle degree, completed courses equivalent to at least 240
higher education credits, of which 60 credits must be in the second cycle, or
have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge in Sweden or elsewhere.

In order to meet the specific entry requirements, the general syllabus for
doctoral studies in the field of Romance languages stipulates that applicants
must meet these requirements:

- the successful candidate has passed advanced level courses of at least 30
ECTS in French, Italian, Spanish or Portuguese including a degree project of
at least 15 ECTS.
- the candidate possesses knowledge of English equivalent to at least 550
Credits on a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). This does not
apply to students, who have undergone university education where English is
one of the entry requirements.

The entry requirements must also be met by persons who acquired corresponding
skills within or outside the country.
