The Society for Caribbean Linguistics (SCL) will meet in Costa Rica from 5 to
12 August 2018 for its 22nd Biennial Conference. The Conference will be hosted
by the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica under the theme ''Connecting the
Caribbean: Languages, Borders, and Identities”.

Abstracts on all types of Caribbean languages are invited. Caribbean languages
include spoken and signed languages, Amerindian languages, Creole languages,
standardised, official and non-standardised language varieties, immigrant
languages, heritage languages, endangered languages, and religious and ritual
languages.

The conference organisers are especially encouraging abstracts pertaining to
any of the following panel themes in any of the sub-disciplines of
linguistics:

- Indigenous Costa Rican Languages
- Limonese Creole
- Language and Migration in the Caribbean
- Language and Education
- Language and Communication
- Translation
- Language Endangerment and Language Death 
- Language Policies in Multilingual Caribbean Societies
- Language and Identity in the Caribbean
