Description:

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese of Temple University is pleased to
invite applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professorship in Spanish
Linguistics. Applications are sought from candidates in Applied Linguistics or
Sociolinguistics, with special attention given to those whose background shows
complementarity between the two areas. Sub-specialization or teaching
experience in one or more of the following areas is also desirable: Phonetics
and Phonology, Discourse Analysis, Language and Gender, Quantitative and/or
Qualitative Research Methodologies, Multimedia and/or Online Instruction,
Spanish for the Professions, and Translation/Interpreting.  

Applicants should show evidence of outstanding scholarship and commitment to
undergraduate and graduate teaching. A Ph.D. in hand by August 2018 is
required.  The candidate selected for this position should have native or
near-native fluency in Spanish and English, and must meet eligibility
requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is
scheduled to begin.  The normal teaching load is two courses per semester.
