The Department of Speech, Communication and Theatre Arts at Queensborough
Community College, City University of New York is searching for a tenure-track
Assistant Professor in Communication Studies starting Spring/Fall 2018. The
preferred candidate may work in any area in the Communications field: Media
Studies, Cultural Studies, Rhetoric, Information and Communication Technology.
Applicants should have earned a Ph.D. in Communication Studies or in a related
doctoral discipline (Media Studies, Rhetoric, Speech Communication, Cultural
Studies, Intercultural, Popular Culture, Business Organization, Public
Relations).

The Assistant Professor will be required to demonstrate a record of scholarly
research and publications for re-appointment, tenure and promotion.

The successful candidate will (i) teach a range of courses across the
curriculum, including public speaking, small group communication,
intercultural communication, interpersonal communication, organizational
communication and mass communication; (ii) assume a leadership role in
developing and accessing communication courses and incorporate technologies as
research and presentation tools; (iii) participate in departmental and college
activities, including committee work, course and program assessment and
curriculum development; (iv) further responsibilities may include speech
proficiency screenings, participation as a judge or coordinator in
departmental speech competition, curriculum development, student advisement
and mentoring student projects; (v) evening/weekend schedule may be required.

The Media and Design Centre is equipped with Mac computers and 3-dimensional
modeling software to enhance theatrical scenic design, lighting plots and
video recording. 

Qualifications:
Ph.D. degree (in hand) in Communication or related doctoral fields (Media
Studies, Rhetoric, Speech Communication, Cultural Studies, Intercultural,
Popular Culture, Business Organization, Public Relation) is required for
appointment as Assistant Professor.
Prior teaching experience in an udergraduate academic setting, demonstrated
scholarship or achievement.

Compensation:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
