Focus: The ACTL Summer School 2018 will offer three advanced courses and three introductory courses in syntax, semantics and phonology, and two courses in psycholinguistics.

It will be held on Mon 25–Fri 29 June, 2018 at UCL.

There are more lecturers than usual, and we will have two parallel sessions. In addition, there will be a workshop with poster presentations by students. You can find more information about the workshop below.

Advanced Courses:
Cross-clausal A-dependencies by Susi Wurmbrand (University of Connecticut, University of Vienna)
Topics in the semantics of pronouns: crossover phenomena by Gennaro Chierchia (Harvard)
Contextual Information in Phonology by Yuni Kim (Essex)

Introductory Courses:
Where movement fails: minimalist perspectives on island effects by Michelle Sheehan (Anglia Ruskin)
Introduction to Dynamic Semantics by Patrick D. Elliott (ZAS)
Introduction to constraint-based phonology by Adam J. Chong (QUML)

Pscyholinguisitics:
Language Development in Psychosemantics by Daniele Panizza (Göttingen)
Sentence Processing by Nino Grillo (York)

The psycholinguistic courses will take place at 9:30-11:00 on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. We will skip the morning slot on Monday and start at 11:30, so that those who come from outside London will be able to travel that day. On Wednesday we will have the poster presentation workshop at 9:00-11:00.

Tuition Explanation: Tuition waiver for ACTL members: The tuition is waived for students currently
registered at Cambridge University, the University of Edinburgh, the
University of Kent, Oxford University, QMUL, SOAS, or UCL. The PhD students
based these institutions will also be (partially) reimbursed for their
accommodation and/or transportation.
