Description:

Language and Space Lab at the University of Zurich is seeking applicants for a
fully funded 4-year PhD position starting in September 2018, as part of the
project Non-randomness in Morphological Diversity: A Computational Approach
Based on Multilingual Corpora funded by the SNSF and lead by Tanja Samardžić.
The PhD candidate will carry out fundamental research on the topic of the
project and advance the methodology of highly multilingual quantitative text
analysis.

We are looking for a motivated researcher with excellent technical background
and a clear interest in the study of language. Applicants are required to have
completed a Master’s level degree in computational linguistics or a related
discipline (formal linguistics, mathematics, data science, computer science).
Applicants with the main background in linguistics will demonstrate their
interest and experience in quantitative text analysis. Applicants with the
main background in other related disciplines will demonstrate their interest
and experience in the study of language.
