Meeting Description:

The second edition of the Afrikaans Grammar Workshop will take place at Ghent
University, 5-6 October 2018, as part of the yearly Ghent colloquium on
Afrikaans linguistics and literature. The aim of the workshop is to bring
together researchers from various theoretical and methodological backgrounds
with a common interest in the study of Afrikaans grammar, broadly construed. 

The workshop is organized in collaboration with the Virtual Institute for
Afrikaans (VivA), the University of Michigan, and the Meertens Institute
(Amsterdam).

2nd Call for Papers: 

Deadline extension until May 6, 2018

We welcome abstracts for regular 20-minute conference presentations on any
aspect of Afrikaans grammar (phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics,
pragmatics), possibly in comparison with Dutch and/or other related or
unrelated languages. Contributions on the history of Afrikaans grammar, the
role of language contact, and/or sociolinguistic variation in the present-day
grammar are also welcome, as are contributions on the development of new
methods or tools for the study of Afrikaans grammar. 

Please send your anonymous 300-word abstract to afrikaans at UGent, as an
attachment in pdf or doc-format, and include name(s) and affiliation(s) in the
body of your e-mail.

Deadline for the submission of abstracts: May 6, 2018.

Notification of acceptance will be given by the end of May.
